2 weekends ago, Aylesbury held a vigil for the children of Palestine, where their names were read out over a period of 12 hours. Over 20,000 have been killed. 12 hours was not enough time to read all of the names.
Many volunteers and our MP Laura Kyrke-Smith for Aylesbury stood and spoke the names, a difficult and emotional thing to do; to put a name and a family to the children normally represented by a number, and an unimaginable, horrific number at that.
We are immensely proud that she rose in Parliament, to speak of this event and for the wider cause
"Najwa Ahmed Fathi Radwan and Mohammed Hassan Yousef Daoud are just two of the tens of thousands of Palestinian children who have been killed in Gaza.
Many of their names were read out over the course of 12 hours at a really powerful vigil that I joined in Aylesbury town centre this weekend.
Yet today that list of dead children has likely just got longer with Israel's assault on Deir al-Balah.
We are right to name them and to remember them. It was incredibly moving to see and be part of our community coming together in this way.
But we must also honour their memory by doing everything in our power to end the killing NOW.
Yesterday I asked Foreign Secretary David Lammy to make it clear to his Israeli counterpart that "Enough is enough". I was assured he is doing just that." ... See MoreSee Less

Having an MP who is visible and active within the community is a great thing!
Last week, she spent some time with @Aylesbury Gardening Society
"I had a lovely morning with the Aylesbury Gardening Society. More than 80 people have plots at the allotments off old Stoke road and the range of fruit and veg being grown was incredible!
From runner beans to squash and raspberries and the most yummy fig. It’s a beautiful space and a very welcoming community and I’m glad to get to know them.
The shop is open on Sunday mornings- do pop in."

One thing that makes our MP Laura Kyrke-Smith for Aylesbury stand out among many in Parliament is that she is one of approximately 3 MPs who have been to have actually been to The West Bank, Jordan and Israel in the past year, and has seen and heard first hand the atrocities being committed upon the Palestinian people.
In her very first year, we have an MP who showed real bravery, who called on her humanitarian roots and saw the situation for what it is. Here is her statement.
"I am completely distressed and appalled by the killing of innocent, starving people, including children and babies, in Gaza. Even more so because it is entirely avoidable.
I mourn the victims of the Hamas attacks on October 7th. I desperately want to see the remaining hostages united with their families and I want to see Israel safe and secure.
But there is no excuse for this slaughter of Palestinians. After I visited the region last year, I warned of plausible evidence of genocide in Gaza. It was an appalling situation then and - unbelievably - it’s only got worse.
I have been pushing consistently for more sanctions, for suspending trade, for accountability for the atrocities being perpetrated, and for the UK to recognise the State of Palestine.
This is long overdue.
On much of this the Government has made progress, but until the killing stops we cannot rest.
The death and suffering in Gaza is an absolute horror and stain on our conscience. Enough is enough."My statement on Gaza:

"What has my MP ever done for me?", a lot of people see their MP as someone disconnected from the lives of the locals.
1 Year ago today, Aylesbury elected Laura Kyrke-Smith for Aylesbury, a historical MP for this town, and a woman of serious action. Here are just SOME of the excellent things she has done to stand and fight for Aylesbury and the surrounding villages
#1 - Responded to over 7000 constituent emails, letters, and other correspondence on the key issues directly affecting the people of Aylesbury
#2 - She's held advice surgeries, coffee mornings, and Meet Your MP events all across Aylesbury. Marking a notable difference from our previous MPs.
#3 - Laura launched a successful work experience program for young people interested in politics and leadership
#4 - Unlocked £13.4m in funding for Aylesbury's South East Link Road
#5 - a further £20m for fixing the potholes across all of Bucks
#6 - Supported action to get NHS waiting lists down, which have dropped by 35,000 compared to this time last year
#7 - Secured confirmation of a new DEXA scanner for Stoke Mandeville Hospital
#8 - Secured the biggest amount of investment in years for FOUR of our local GP surgeries - Whitchurch, Wing, Aston Clinton and Bedgrove!
#9 - Assigned to be a Parliamentary Private Secretary for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and she has been driving plans to boost nature recovery and how it is balanced with house building targets.
#10 - TWO Aylesbury schools (Ashmead Combined and St Mary's C of E) were chosen to pilot the long overdue free breakfast clubs
#11 - She has been pushing for a desperately needed rail link between Aylesbury and Milton Keynes
#12 - She has stood over 100 in parliament to speak for Aylesbury and direct questions to government ministers on the issues that matter most to Aylesbury
#13 - Most Bravely, she has visited the West Bank and seen first hand the horrors and inhumanity taking place there. She has consistently raised questions about this cruelty and injustice to ministers and in particular the Foreign Secretary David Lammy ... See MoreSee Less

Our MP Laura Kyrke-Smith for Aylesbury has issued a statement on the gov't's historic abortion amendment, immediately stopping the arrests, investigations, and prosecutions of women seeking desperate medical care.
"Today I voted in favour of Tonia Antoniazzi’s abortion amendment, New Clause 1 (NC1), to the Crime and Policing Bill.
This amendment will end the prosecution of women for ending their own pregnancies, of which there have been increasing cases in the last five years. NC1 is targeted and narrow to solve this current problem. It changes absolutely nothing regarding how abortion is provided or the conditions set out in the Abortion Act for legal access regarding grounds, time limit, two doctors signatures.
It just excludes women from the underlying criminal law.
NC1 protects women and abortion services and is backed by the sector - including every abortion provider and organisation that represents them in the UK - 5 Royal Medical Colleges, the British Medical Association, countless Violence Against Women and Girls groups, Women’s Rights groups and unions.
It will immediately stop the arrests, long investigations, and prosecutions of women.
I am pleased the amendment passed today. No one should face criminal investigations for seeking medical care at the most desperate moments of their lives. This will now end.

In Parliament, our MP Laura Kyrke-Smith for Aylesbury stood to ask Small Business Minister Gareth Thomas about how his strategy to support our high streets will benefit the fantastic businesses in our town. This includes Darlington's Cafe, Nafees Bakers & Sweets, and The Rockwood pub.
She says
"They provide an amazing service to the community, but with issues such as traffic, parking and antisocial behaviour, they can struggle to get customers into town and through their doors.
Last Thursday I asked Minister for Services, Small Business and Exports Gareth Thomas MP about how his small business strategy will support our high streets and town centres, like Aylesbury, to thrive.
I was pleased to hear our Government is taking steps to improve access to finance for small businesses, following the significant increase in the capacity of the British Business Bank." ... See MoreSee Less
