80 years ago today, the freedoms we enjoy were secured by our remarkable Second World War generation.

The sacrifices of those who fought for our peace must never be forgotten.

The Local Council elections are over, the dust has settled!

While it was a disappointing result for us, we congratulate the candidates who won.
We also believe it important that our neighbours are properly and accurately informed of who is representing them; we believe accountability is essential for democracy. Here are your councillors.

Every single one of our candidates gave their days, nights, and weekends to the biggest campaign we've ever done in Aylesbury — we kept it clean, positive and aspirational, just as we did in the General.

We are so proud of our candidates - they gave their all and stood for Aylesbury's residents and values.

Between us all, we walked over 2 MILLION steps across Aylesbury, knocked on thousands of doors, spoke with tens of thousands of residents. It is clear to us that, whoever you voted for, EVERYONE wants BOLD and ambitious changes for Aylesbury's roads, schools, traffic, water, and beyond.

We hope the winning candidates will fight for these improvements; we know Aylesbury Labour WILL.
We may not have won a council seat, but we're looking FORWARD, to the future, with our parish seats and our MP Laura Kyrke-Smith for Aylesbury, who fights every day for every person living in this town, and the surrounding villages.

Whatever you may think of the national party and the government, Aylesbury Labour always has and will always share the interests of the working people of this town.

We will campaign to protect your rights to safety, good health, and to have your voice heard.

Thank you to everyone who supported us, voted for us and shared your stories with us - we aren't done here.

Well said - onwards and upwards

What would Pitstone be classed as? Which Aylesbury section?

Really well said by the author. Laura Kyrke-Smith for Aylesbury will continue being a fabulous MP and in 4 years time, the voters will see further chaos from the Tories, LibDems and Reform. Labour will be there again in 4 years time.

Today, as with every day for the past few weeks, we are out and about Aylesbury, talking to voters to remind them that this election matters, and when to vote!

Our MP Laura Kyrke-Smith for Aylesbury has been out in Aylesbury South East with Mark and Arden, scooping up those last minute votes. They and the rest of us will be out across Aylesbury and the villages in force today!

One of our constituents wrote to tell of how their 90 years old mother has been impacted by the council's decision to evict her and other allotment owners in Aylesbury. Her mother's words are powerful, and we'd like to share them.

“I am 90 years old and put my longevity down to my lifelong love of gardening.
Working with the earth each day, watching magic happen. Sharing this lifelong passion with likeminded members of my community in our wonderfully diverse town has kept me mentally, physically and spiritually grounded.

As many of you will be aware, The Aylesbury Town Council is made up almost entirely of Lib Dems, who tell us in their Town Matters Magazine of all the good they do for our elderly community.
However, in 2023 every single one of them voted in favour of closing the beautiful Tring Road Allotments, putting an end to 100 years of a thriving, happy, peaceful community.

Many who had plots at Tring Rd allotments were friends my age who relied heavily on this communal land as a vital social lifeline, as well as for their daily dose of physical activity. They were offered alternative plots in other parts of Aylesbury, but at our age this kind of move is simply not physically possible.

Several of my octogenarian Italian friends started their plots over 40 years ago and will have to walk away from mature vineyards they planted that produced spectacular wine and of course many established fruit and vegetable projects they devoted their lives to.

Yes, we are elderly and slower than we were, but easy access to our beloved gardens is what has kept many of us going for so long.

I have watched many of my friends deteriorate since this decision was made and have even lost a few, which may or may not have happened anyway, but I don’t think this terrible decision helped them in any way.

The Aylesbury Town Council were within their rights to evict this community, but just because you *can*, doesn’t mean it’s right.

This Thursday is the local elections and I’m tired of receiving all the literature that has come through my door from all the Parties vying for my vote. But, for my friends who have lost so much, I wanted to remind you, whichever way you choose vote tomorrow, of the damage the Aylesbury Lib Dems have brought to my friends lives as a result of their terrible decision.”

I'm actually not sure. Aylesbury is being over developed with houses at the rate of knots. Given that the main government is going to make it even easier to develop green belt spaces and ride rough shot over nature groups, what assurances can a potential labour council give that they won't just roll over for this agenda. Having said that, Tories and Reform are definitely off the table.

I’m okay actually. Can’t bring myself to vote for a party that doesn’t stand with the trans community. Then there’s all the other stuff too (Economics, disabled people, elderly people, Gaza, watering down employment rights, not investing in the environment as promised, emulating the exact same rhetoric as the Trump administration and Reform to appear “tough” on immigration etc) but that’s the main one for me this time around, it will cause harms to too many of my friends and my community and I just can’t vibe with that, trans rights are human rights. There’s still time to win the left back, I’m not expecting you to fix every issue overnight, but right now I’m not buying what you’re selling, you’ve become everything you claim to stand against.

I’ve been! And voted Reform!
