Yesterday I met with the NFU and Thames Valley Police, kindly hosted by Tom Walton at Church Farm in Weston Turville.

Our focus was the rural crime issues that farmers raise with me, including equipment and animal theft, hare coursing, fly-tipping, and also dogs being let off their leads and harming and killing farm animals.

It was great to hear from Thames Valley Police about their work to increase their presence in our villages and rural communities, which is so vital. We need people to report issues but also to know that they will be followed up - and I know the police are working hard at this. I was also reassured to hear of increasing collaboration between TVP and neighbouring police forces, something that residents will also often raise with me.

I’ve been out with local Labour colleagues, knocking on doors along and around Harvey Road.

I always like hearing what’s on people’s minds, and I try to pick up any issues here and when I’m in Parliament. As ever, lots of different topics came up including the state of the pavements and the issues with parking. And then some wider issues like immigration and the really high costs of energy at the moment. I was glad to share the Prime Minister’s decision to take VAT off our energy bills, starting today!
